AYUSH Counseling is the centralized process for admission to undergraduate courses in traditional and alternative medicine systems in India: Ayurveda (BAMS), Yoga & Naturopathy (BNYS), Unani (BUMS), Siddha (BSMS), and Homeopathy (BHMS).
Admission is based on your NEET-UG rank and is divided into two main categories:
- AIQ (All India Quota – 15%): Conducted by the AACCC for Government and Deemed Universities across India.
- State Quota (85%): Conducted by respective state authorities for colleges within that state.
Counselling Layout & Stages
Stage 1: Registration & Security Deposit
- Online Registration: Create a profile on the official portal (AACCC or State).
- Payment: Pay a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable security deposit (amount varies for Govt. vs. Deemed).
Stage 2: Choice Filling & Locking
- Selection: Choose your preferred colleges and courses from the available list.
- Priority: Arrange them in order of preference (most desired at the top).
- Locking: You must “lock” your choices; otherwise, the last saved choices are auto-locked.
Stage 3: Seat Allotment
- Processing: The system allocates seats based on NEET rank, category, and your preference list.
- Result: A result list is published showing which college you have been allotted.
Stage 4: Reporting or Upgradation
- Reporting: If satisfied, visit the college with original documents to finalize admission.
- Free Exit/Upgradation: In Round 1, you can usually decline the seat without losing money to try for a better one in Round 2.
Stage 5: Subsequent Rounds
- Round 2 & 3 (Mop-up): For remaining vacant seats.
- Stray Vacancy Round: The final round conducted by colleges or authorities to fill the last few seats.
